To Jump or Not

Ode to the angels of 9/11…

Casual day on the clock
A day that would claim many lives
As planes dive in and floors collapse
There’s no return to your children and wives

To jump or not

Like those on that flight
This, your day; one final night
Like those suffering below
Like the frightened at your height

To jump or not

Hear the rumble; hear the screams
The way they beg; the way they plead
Oh, how you wish it were a dream

To jump or not

As time draws near
The path is smoky, yet clear
The scent of fate fills the air
And now you must dare

To jump or not

“This isn’t fair; oh, but why?
Of all days and all ways
This be the way that I die…
I want to live! I want to thrive!
And yet it’s here, the contemplation
On the ending of my life”

To jump or not

Inevitability creeps in
The air in the room spreads thin
Thick smoke to accompany the roar
Time lay on your side no more

To jump or not

Well, here it goes; here it is
Your time; your moment
Fear falls away as you set down the phone
You have said your goodbyes
Told your family you love them
But it’s time for you to fly…

To jump or not

“Well, I did it; I jumped
Oh, I jumped from so high
And now backwards I fall
But all I see is blue sky
And a path of golden light
My body is falling but not my soul
No, it’s flying! It’s ascending!
Watch me soar; watch me go!
Like the great mighty eagle
I rise and I conquer
The best part is pain
I feel it no longer
Please don’t mourn for me
I am flying and free
So sorry we had to part
Please don’t cry; I’m never far
Eternally signatured into your heart
Wasn’t all in tough choice
Between flying or turning to rubble
Think not too much about it
Your heart deserves less trouble
Cheer on and rejoice in my victory of brave
I would do it all again if it were the only way”

To jump or not
